The Key Components of an Instagram Strategy

An Instagram marketing strategy is an indispensable marketing tool for businesses that want to get the most out of their social media marketing. Creating an Instagram marketing strategy starts with identifying your target audience and then moving on to other steps such as creating content and understanding the results. It’s a process that will get refined once you start implementing it.

There are five key components of an Instagram strategy:

  • Clear Goals.

  • Clear Understanding of the Brand’s Audience.
  • A Content Bank and Schedule.
  • Social Tools.
  • Analysis and Measurement.

      Lesson Four

      Personal Instagram vs
      Business Instagram Profiles

There is a lot of debate out there over whether you should roll with a personal Instagram or a business profile page.

ICYMI: Instagram has rolled out a new creator profile for influencers and content creators!

Like Instagram business profiles, creator profiles will have access to a number of exclusive features and in-depth analytics, but there are also some big differences between the profile types.

Here’s a quick rundown of the key differences:

      With an Instagram Business Profile

      CAN

      • Get access to Instagram Analytics about your followers and posts
      • Promote Instagram posts as ads
      • Add links to Instagram Stories
      • Schedule and Auto Publish your posts to Instagram

      CAN’T

      • Go private on Instagram

      With an Instagram Creator Profile:

      CAN

      • Get exclusive access to the Instagram Creator Studio on desktop
      • Access creator-specific analytics, including follow/unfollow metric and engagement stats
      • Filter your Direct Message inbox
      • Tag products from brands directly within a feed post

      CAN’T

      • Easily make the switch — Instagram is rolling out Creator profiles and it’s still unclear who will get access to the new profile
      • Connect your Instagram to any third-party apps
      • Schedule and Auto Publish your posts to Instagram

      With an Instagram Personal Profile

      CAN

      • Filter your Direct Message inbox
      • Post without limited reach
      • Use all normal aspects of Instagram

      CAN’T

      • View important analytics – (technically you can if you connect to something like Planoly or Later, but analytics are limited)
      • Get exclusive access to the Instagram Creator Studio on desktop
      • Connect your Instagram to any third-party apps
      • Schedule and Auto Publish your posts to Instagram

How to Switch to an Instagram Business Profile or Creator Profile:

Now that you’re up-to-speed on the benefits of Instagram business and creator profiles, it’s time to make the switch!

How to Switch to an Instagram Creator Profile:

If you’re thinking of moving to a creator profile, the first thing you need to do is check if Instagram has made the feature available to you:

        • Open your profile and tap the button with three lines in the top-right corner of the screen.
        • Select “Settings” and then “Account”:
        • If you see the option to “Switch to Creator Account”, congratulations you can easily make the move over!

Key concepts discussed in this video:

        • Reflecting on your strategy and choosing between a personal IG and business IG
        • Will you/Should you run ads?

Press Play in the bottom left hand corner to watch how to navigate to the area where you can switch your profile.
